I have often said that my greatest accomplishment is and remains to be that I have been married to the same woman for 36 years. Dr. Sandra M. Weiss, my wife, is a professor at Neumann University and still teaches there after 34 years. We make our home in Chadds Ford Pa and are both lifetime residents of the area.
We have two beautiful children that we are very proud of. Our daughter, Melissa, received her MBA [Cum Laude] from Penn State University and is currently the Marketing Coordinator at a national life insurance company.
Our son, Tom, is a Magna Cum Laude Graduate of Lehigh University and is a Mechanical Engineer in Wilmington.
Upon graduation from Villanova University, I began working as a Certified Public Accountant while attending Temple University Law School. After graduating and passing the Bar Exam, I became the youngest person in Pennsylvania to be both a CPA and a Lawyer. I then attended New York University Law School and was awarded the LL.M in Taxation. I formed my own firm in 1985, concentrating in foreclosure and tax sale purchases for my own account, as well as real estate development, while expanding my growing real estate and tax law practice. I am the only practicing lawyer in Pennsylvania who is also a Certified Public Accountant and a Real Estate Broker. I also started my own Real Estate Brokerage firm and Real Estate Title Agency. In this way, I am able to offer a full service program for real estate investors and homeowners, unparalleled in Pennsylvania.
I have handled more than 20,000 tax assessment appeals for individual properties in the Delaware Valley, likely more than any other attorney in the area. I have handled properties as unique as parking spaces, golf courses, bowling alleys,. car dealerships, office buildings, contaminated office buildings, vacant lots, farms, houses, duplexes, condominiums and townhouses. The largest was a 950 unit $180 million townhouse community, and the smallest was a vacant lot designated as open space in a homeowner's community.
My educational background and experience afford me a most advantageous outlook on these cases. I have been a Certified Public Accountant for more than 25 years as well as a practicing attorney. I have been a Realtor and Appraiser for more than 15 years. I have developed and owned real estate for more than 15 years and has owned, purchased and sold over 200 parcels for my own.
In 1998, I became a partner in an organization that planned and developed the construction and operation of a $250 million, 557 Megawatt Cogenerating Gas Turbine Electric Power Plant in Berks County, Pennsylvania, known as the Ontelaunee Plant. I am Secretary/Treasurer and CFO of MidAtlantic Energy LLC, an organization created for the purpose of developing and consulting in the power plant development industry. MidAtlantic is currently in planning stages of participating in the development of several power plants east of the Mississippi River
